1. Agreement and operator
Wattson is operated by Luke Parsons in Barcelona, Spain ("Wattson", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using Wattson, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 to use Wattson. If you are under 18 — or below the age at which you can enter this agreement where you live — you may use Wattson only with permission from a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use.
2. Your account
Wattson accounts are created by signing in with Apple or Google. You must keep access to that provider account secure, give accurate profile information, and tell us promptly if you believe your Wattson account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account.
You may not use another person's account without permission, and you may not share reviewer, test or other demonstration credentials. Reviewer access exists only for app-review and testing purposes and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
3. What Wattson provides
Wattson is a structured indoor-training app. It lets you keep a workout library, connect a FTMS-compatible smart trainer and a Bluetooth heart-rate monitor, ride structured workouts with targets scaled to your FTP, record and save rides on the device, upload completed rides to your account, review your ride history, build simulated climbs and courses, discuss your training in Chat, and optionally link Strava to upload rides and read your own Strava data.
Features may differ by device, trainer capability, region, account or subscription state, and may change over time. Group and pod features described on the website are part of the product direction and may not all be available in the current release.
4. Training, health and safety
Wattson is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Structured indoor training is strenuous exercise. Consult a qualified physician before starting or substantially changing a training programme, particularly if you have a heart condition, are pregnant, are recovering from injury or illness, or are taking medication. Stop riding immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, chest discomfort, breathlessness or any other warning sign.
Wattson can change your trainer's resistance while you ride, including in ERG mode, and target power is calculated from the FTP and weight you entered. You are responsible for entering accurate figures, choosing sessions appropriate to your fitness, setting your bike and trainer up safely, riding in a safe and ventilated space, and stopping or overriding the target whenever you need to. You accept the risks inherent in exercise and in using connected equipment.
5. Your content
You retain any rights you have in the workouts, ride recordings, profile information, notes, chat messages and other material you submit ("Your Content"). Wattson does not gain ownership of Your Content. You grant us the permissions needed to host, process, display and sync it so we can run the service for you, and to send it to the providers required by a feature you invoke — for example uploading a ride to Strava or answering a chat message.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit Your Content and that doing so does not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, contractual or other rights. Do not submit another person's training data or personal data without their permission.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use Wattson to:
- break the law or infringe another person's rights;
- upload malware, abusive material, or content you have no right to process;
- access, analyse or upload training data belonging to someone else without permission;
- misrepresent recorded rides, or use Wattson to fabricate activity data for a third-party service;
- bypass access, rate, usage, paywall or security controls;
- probe, disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer or interfere with the service except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- resell or provide access to Wattson as a competing service without written permission; or
- use automated means in a way that imposes unreasonable load or provider cost.
We may remove content, limit processing, or suspend access where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the service, its users, third parties, or to comply with law.
7. Wattson materials
Wattson's software, design, branding and service materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for rights expressly granted by these terms or an applicable open-source licence, no rights are transferred to you. Feedback you choose to provide may be used without restriction or payment, but we are not required to use it.
8. Third-party services and app stores
Wattson relies on third parties for sign-in, hosting, storage, chat processing, mapping and elevation lookups, and activity sync. Those services have their own terms, may change, and may become unavailable. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.
Linking Strava is optional and governed by your agreement with Strava as well as these terms. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc., which does not sponsor or endorse Wattson. You can revoke Wattson's access from your Strava account settings at any time.
If you download Wattson through the Apple App Store, Apple's terms also apply. This agreement is between you and Wattson only, not with Apple; Apple is not responsible for Wattson, its content, or for providing maintenance or support; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms to the extent Apple's rules require.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Wattson useful and reliable, but the service is provided on an evolving basis. We may add, change, limit, suspend or discontinue features, supported trainers, providers, storage limits, or the service itself. We will try to give reasonable notice before a material discontinuation when practical, but emergency, legal, security or provider changes may happen without advance notice.
Wattson is not a backup service. Keep independent copies of training data that matters to you. Ride recordings depend on your device, your trainer, Bluetooth connectivity and network availability, and we cannot guarantee that every ride will be captured or uploaded.
10. Fees and subscriptions
Wattson offers free features and may offer paid features through a Wattson Pro subscription. Where a paid plan is offered, its price, billing period, renewal terms, any introductory free trial, taxes and cancellation options are shown in the app before you purchase, and those purchase terms form part of this agreement.
Subscriptions bought in the app are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. They renew automatically for the chosen period until cancelled. You manage, change or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policy; we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves. Deleting your Wattson account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
We may change prices or the contents of a paid plan. Price changes affecting an active subscription take effect no earlier than the next renewal, with the notice and consent Apple requires.
11. Ending use and account deletion
You may stop using Wattson at any time, and you may delete your account from inside the app at Settings → Account → Delete account. What is deleted and what timing applies are described in the Privacy Policy. Deletion is permanent and there is no reactivation path. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription, and does not remove rides already uploaded to your Strava account.
We may suspend or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly breach these terms, create risk or legal exposure, fail to pay an applicable fee, or if we discontinue the service. Where reasonable we will give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits and dispute terms — will survive.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wattson is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, or that recorded, derived or generated data will be accurate, complete, or suitable for training, coaching or competitive purposes.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer protections.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wattson and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data, training history, goodwill or business opportunity arising from use of the service.
For claims where liability may lawfully be limited, our total liability arising from Wattson during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Wattson during that period or (b) €50. This limit does not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of mandatory data-protection obligations, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep any mandatory protections and the right to bring a claim in the courts provided by the law of your country of residence. Otherwise, courts in Barcelona, Spain will have exclusive jurisdiction.
Before filing a formal claim, please email wattson@luke.ac so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
15. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary and the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a reorganisation, financing, acquisition or sale of the service. These terms and any purchase-specific terms are the entire agreement about Wattson and replace earlier agreements on the same subject.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to Wattson, our providers, the law, or risk. We will post revised terms here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice where reasonably possible. Continuing to use Wattson after revised terms take effect means you accept them; if you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.
